BJP is going to form government in Haryana for the third consecutive time. It will be the first party to do so in the state. Out of total 90 seats in the state, BJP has achieved majority by winning 48 seats. Congress has won 36 seats and is leading on one seat. Indian National Lok Dal has won 2 seats, while independent candidates have won 3 seats.
Exit poll estimates were wrong
At the same time, the predictions of all the exit polls that came before the results of Haryana Assembly elections proved wrong, because in them the possibility of BJP’s defeat and Congress’s victory was predicted, whereas the actual results were the opposite. On the other hand, the result of Jammu and Kashmir Assembly elections was as per the predictions of many exit polls. After voting in Haryana on October 5, all the exit polls had expressed the possibility that Congress may form the government with full majority and BJP may leave power after 10 years. After the actual results came in Haryana on Tuesday, BJP got absolute majority and will form the government for the third consecutive time.
