Action taken in Mandya violence case

Clashes were witnessed between two communities during Ganpati immersion in Mandya, Karnataka. After this incident, the police started action and arrested 52 people. Meanwhile, the SHO of Nagamangala police station has been suspended in the Mandya Nagamangala violence case. Let us tell you that after the arrest of 52 people yesterday, the relatives of the arrested people are protesting outside the police station. Women from both sides say that the police are torturing them. The police broke the door and arrested the people sleeping at home. Let us tell you that during the idol immersion in the Ganesh festival, stones were pelted on each other between the two communities and country-made bombs were thrown. Also, many vehicles were set on fire and shops were vandalized.

Why did the clash happen?

Actually, during the Ganpati Visarjan procession, the youth of Badrikoppalu village in Nagamangala of Mandya district were taking out a procession for Ganesh Visarjan. It is alleged that when this procession reached near a mosque in Nagamangala and was passing through there, the Muslim community started pelting stones. When the situation worsened after the stone pelting, a dispute started between the two groups. After this, many shops nearby were vandalized. The rioters did not calm down even after this and they also set fire to the vehicles parked on the road.

Union Minister Kumaraswamy had condemned the incident

Union Minister and former Karnataka Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy also issued a statement on the incident in Mandya. Kumaraswamy said in a post on X, ‘I strongly condemn the incident that took place during Ganesh Visarjan in Nagamangala of Mandya district. It is a proof of the failure of law and order in the city that miscreants of one community deliberately created a ruckus by targeting the devotees walking peacefully in the procession of Lord Ganapati, threw stones and slippers at the police and common people, burst petrol bombs and brandished swords.’ The Union Minister also expressed serious concern over the failure of the local police in his post.
