Afghanistan made a big upset, registered its biggest win by defeating South Africa in the series

The Afghanistan cricket team led by Hasmatullah Shahidi created history when they defeated South Africa in the second ODI and took an unassailable lead in the series. Let us tell you, the three-match ODI series between Afghanistan and South Africa is being played in UAE. By winning the first match of the series, Afghanistan registered its first win in international cricket against South Africa, now Afghanistan has created history by defeating the African team in the second ODI as well. Afghanistan won the second ODI played in Sharjah by 177 runs, this is also their biggest win in the history of ODI cricket.

Afghanistan won the toss and elected to bat first and scored 311 runs for the loss of 4 wickets in the stipulated 50 overs on the basis of a century by Rahmanullah Gurbaz. Gurbaz scored the 7th century of his ODI career and scored 105 runs in 110 balls with the help of 10 fours and 3 towering sixes. Apart from him, Rahmat Shah (50) and Azmatullah Umarzai (86) also scored half-centuries and contributed significantly in taking the team past 300.

South Africa, chasing a target of 312 runs, collapsed to just 134 runs in 34.2 overs in front of Afghanistan’s devastating bowling. No batsman could touch the 40-run mark, while 5 batsmen were out on single digits. South Africa’s top scorer was captain Temba Bavuma who played an innings of 38 runs.

Birthday boy Rashid Khan shone in bowling for Afghanistan, who took 5 wickets for just 19 runs. Apart from him, Nangealiya Kharote also got 4 wickets. Rashid Khan was awarded the Player of the Match award for his excellent bowling.
