For this, four members of Forensic Science Lab will go to Tihar Jail. Jail officials said that keeping in view the recent attack on Aftab outside the Forensic Science Laboratory in Delhi, the post narco interview has been scheduled in the jail itself.

Four members of FSL will do post narco interview
Jail officials said a four-member team from the Forensic Science Laboratory and the investigating officer would visit the central jail tomorrow for ‘post narco interview’. This arrangement has been made keeping in view the high risk in Aftab’s transportation. Officials said that Poonawala’s narco test was completely successful and his health is completely fine. Special Commissioner of Police (Law and Order) Sagar Preet Hooda said that the process of narco investigation has been completed.

taken to the hospital on Thursday morning
Officials said that Poonawala was brought to Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Hospital in Rohini at 8.40 am and the narco test started at around 10 am. After investigation, he was kept under medical supervision. According to FSL sources, his answers given during polygraphy and narco tests will be analyzed and Poonawalla will be told about the answers given by him.

Consent form read before Aftab
A senior official said that before the narco test, Poonawala was subjected to other general tests including checking of blood pressure, pulse rate, body temperature and heartbeat. He said that as part of the process, a consent form was read out to him with full details of Poonawalla and the narco team probing him. After his signature on the form, narco test was done.

Many medicines are given before narco test
Medicines like sodium pentothal, scopolamine and sodium amytal are given in narco test which takes the person to different stages of anesthesia. In the hypnotic stage, the person is not fully conscious and he is more likely to spew such information which he usually does not tell while conscious. Investigative agencies use this test when other evidence does not give a clear picture of the case.

Delhi Police had demanded narco test
The Delhi Police had earlier said that it has sought a narco test of Poonawalla as his answers during questioning were “misleading”. The Supreme Court has ordered that narco test, brain mapping and polygraphy test cannot be done without the consent of the person concerned. Also, the statements given during this investigation are not admissible as preliminary evidence in the court. These are acceptable only in certain circumstances when the facts and nature of the case find the bench to warrant it.

accused of killing his girlfriend
Poonawala (28) is accused of killing his ‘live-in partner’ Shraddha Walkar and dismembering her body into 35 pieces. It is alleged that he kept the body parts in a 300-litre refrigerator at his home in south Delhi’s Mehrauli for about three weeks and then dumped them at various places in the city over several nights. He was arrested on 12 November. (from input language)
