While talking to a media channel, Modi government minister Kiren Rijiju said, ‘What is Atishi’s full name, Atishi Marlena. I found it very interesting, Marlena is formed by combining Marx and Lenin. Will any Marxist Leninist run Delhi now? I am not concerned with who Atishi Marlena is and what she is, but her ideas… Afzal Guru attacked the Parliament, killed innocent people. Still he should not be hanged. Atishi’s family members themselves ran the entire signature campaign.’
Delhi BJP President Virendra Sachdeva also attacked Atishi in the same way. He said that now there is a traitor government in Delhi. He said, ‘Arvind Kejriwal has pushed Delhi towards anarchy by taking the name of Atishi Marlena. The reason for this is – we all have heard the name of Afzal Guru. A petition was sent to the President for the release of Afzal Guru. In this, release and pardon for Afzal Guru was demanded. In this, there are signatures of Atishi Marlena’s parents on number 52 and 51. Now along with the corrupt, a traitor government will also run in Delhi.’
In a conversation with India Today, BJP MP Manoj Tiwari even called Atishi an urban Naxal. He said, ‘Aatishi Marlena is an urban Naxal, why is her name Marlena? It is made by combining Marx and Lenin. Her father had given a petition to the President for terrorist Afzal Guru.’

As soon as Atishi’s name was announced as the new Chief Minister of Delhi, Aam Aadmi Party’s Rajya Sabha MP Swati Maliwal alleged that Atishi’s parents fought in favor of terrorist Afzal Guru. She wrote on Instagram, ‘Today is a very sad day for Delhi. Today, a woman whose family fought a long battle to save terrorist Afzal Guru from hanging is being made the Chief Minister of Delhi. Her parents wrote mercy petitions to the Honorable President to save terrorist Afzal Guru. According to them, Afzal Guru was innocent and was framed under a political conspiracy. Although Atishi Marlena is just a ‘dummy CM’, still this issue is related to the security of the country. May God protect Delhi!’ Aam Aadmi Party got angry on Swati Maliwal’s statement and said that she is reading the script of BJP. They said that if Maliwal has even a little shame, she should resign from the Rajya Sabha.
