Dates have been announced for assembly elections in Maharashtra and Jharkhand. Voting for 288 seats in Maharashtra will be held in a single phase on November 20, while in Jharkhand, voting will be held in two phases on November 13 and November 20. The election results of both the states will come on November 23. With the announcement of election dates, the discussion regarding seat distribution between the alliance parties in both the states has intensified. The main opposition alliance in Maharashtra, Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA), has agreed on 258 seats. According to sources, there are still around 30 such seats on which no consensus has been reached between the three parties. Let us tell you that MVA includes Congress, Sharad Pawar faction’s NCP-SP and Uddhav faction’s Shiv Sena-UBT.

Talks continue between Congress-JMM on 4 seats

According to sources, in Jharkhand also an agreement has been reached between Congress and Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) on 77 seats. Currently, there are 4 seats left in the state, where talks are going on between Congress and JMM. Also, according to sources, JMM does not want to give any seat to RJD in Jharkhand. JMM believes that RJD did not give them any seat in Bihar, hence JMM is also not interested in giving any seat to RJD.

Seats decided between NDA parties, 2 seats for JDU

At the same time, there is almost a consensus among the constituent parties of NDA in Jharkhand regarding the coordination of seats. BJP will contest on 68 seats, All Jharkhand Students Union (AJSU) on 10, Janata Dal (United) on 2 and Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) on 1 seat. BJP’s co-in-charge for Jharkhand assembly elections and Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma gave this information on Friday. He said the seat-sharing arrangement has almost been finalized but the BJP is adopting a ‘watch and wait’ strategy as rival parties including JMM are yet to reveal their plans.
