The dates of Lok Sabha elections have been announced. The nomination process for the first phase of elections to be held on April 19 has also started from today. Meanwhile, AIADMK has released its first list of 16 candidates for the Lok Sabha elections. This list was released by party general secretary Edappadi K Palaniswami.
AIADMK has fielded Jayawardhan from Chennai South seat, Royapuram Manoharan from North Chennai, Jayaprakash from Krishnagiri, Atal Ashok Kumar from Erode, Chandrahasan from Chidambaram, Saravanan from Madurai, Tamil Mani from Namakkal, VD Narayanasamy from Theni seat and Surjit Shankar from Nagapattinam Lok Sabha constituency. Has been made a candidate. Apart from this, ticket has been given to Vignesh from Salem Lok Sabha seat, Bakkiaraj from Villupuram and AL Vijayan from Arakkonam.
DMDK allotted 5 seats
Releasing the list, the party general secretary said that DMDK has been allotted five constituencies. Apart from this, Puthiya Tamilgam and SDPI have been given one Lok Sabha seat each. “In the AIADMK alliance, DMDMK is to contest on 5 seats, SDPI on 1 seat and Puthiya Tamilagam on 1 seat from Tenkasi constituency,” Palaniswami said.
“We believe we are strong”
He further said, “We believe that we are strong. We believe that people will support us. We do not care what people talk about on social media. We are in alliance with the people.” The AIADMK general secretary also said the party was not disappointed at not forging an alliance with the PMK, which had joined the BJP alliance on Tuesday.
AIADMK is contesting elections separately from NDA
Let us tell you that this time AIADMK has decided to contest the Lok Sabha elections separately from NDA. The party had officially separated from the NDA last year. According to the report, when there was a dispute between AIADMK leaders E Palanisamy and O Panneerselvam, BJP had started projecting itself as the main opposition party in the state. After this, differences started between the two allies.
