Javed Akhtar calls himself an atheist. During an event in Mumbai, he once again talked about religion. He believes that people of the 20th and 21st century have split personalities. Giving the example of the moon, he said that ISRO scientists send rockets there, people consider the moon as Chandralok and when the rocket reaches there, they go to the temple and start praying.
Part of the brain is damaged
Javed Akhtar often debates on religion. He again spoke on this issue in the Expresso session held in Mumbai on Thursday. He was asked why he does not have religious feelings? To this Javed Akhtar replied, ‘We have reasoning, logic but a part of our brain has been damaged at the time when we were children and we had no other way.’
Scientific thinking gets punished
Javed said that people who go against the rules of society are punished due to scientific thinking. He explained with an example, ’20th and 21st century is the time of schizophrenia. People have split personalities.’
Javed gave the example of the moon
Explaining his point, Javed Akhtar said, ‘In India, a man from ISRO can send a rocket to a part of the moon…but on the moon there is Chandralok, gods and goddesses used to live, you are sending a rocket there and as soon as it reaches there, you go to the temple. This is schizophrenia. This is the first time in human history that your knowledge and information and your religious thinking are not matching.’
The umbilical cord is connected to the dark age
Javed Akhtar further says, all these religions, which have no exceptions, all these religions are from the Dark Ages. Their roots are connected to the Dark Ages. You have brought the Dark Ages with you. Your umbilical cord has not yet been cut from the Dark Ages.
