Bengaluru: Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah’s troubles have increased. The Enforcement Directorate i.e. ED has registered a case against Siddaramaiah. The matter pertains to Mysuru Urban Development Authority (MUDA) plot allotment. Meanwhile, Siddaramaiah’s wife has taken a big step. He has offered to surrender 14 plots of land allotted to him by the Mysore Urban Development Authority (MUDA). In a letter addressed to the MUDA Commissioner, BM Parvathi stated her intention to return the plots that were allotted to her in exchange for 3 acres and 16 guntas of land at a different location.

What did Siddaramaiah’s wife write in the letter?

Siddaramaiah’s wife wrote, ‘I want to cancel and surrender the deeds of 14 plots made in my favor by the Mysore Urban Development Authority. I am also handing over the possession of the plots back to Mysore Urban Development Authority. Please take necessary action and steps in this regard as soon as possible.

ED files case against Karnataka Chief Minister

Recently, the ED, taking cognizance of the FIR of the state Lokayukta, had booked Siddaramaiah and some others in a money-laundering case related to MUDA. The FIR was lodged last week after a special court in Bengaluru ordered a Lokayukta police probe against Siddaramaiah in the case.

As per legal procedures, the ED is authorized to summon Siddaramaiah for questioning and can also attach his assets during the investigation. In a statement last week, Siddaramaiah responded to the allegations, claiming that he was being unfairly targeted in the case as a result of political vendetta.

What is MUDA issue?

In the MUDA site allocation case, it is alleged that Siddaramaiah’s wife B M Parvathi was allotted compensatory sites in a posh area of Mysore whose property value was higher than the location of her land, which was acquired by MUDA. . MUDA had allotted plots to Parvati under the 50:50 ratio scheme in exchange for her 3.16 acres of land, where it had developed a residential layout. Under the controversial scheme, MUDA allotted 50 per cent of developed land in exchange for undeveloped land acquired from land losers to build residential layouts.
