Indian Railway: An elderly man jumped from the train to the platform at Ankleshwar railway station in Gujarat. Indian Railways has been fined Rs 30,000 after an elderly man from Chennai was forced to jump onto the tracks after the train stopped ahead of the platform. The incident took place in December 2021 in which KV Ramesh of Agaram traveled to Ankleshwar in the second A/C coach of the Navjeevan Super-Fast Express, where his compartment and three other A/C coaches stopped outside the platform and he could not get down. After this he tried to jump from the train to get down and in the process he got injured. After this, Ramesh had filed a petition in the Chennai (North) District Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission in which he had said these things.
On this, Railways said that the platform at Ankleshwar was being expanded and its work was completed in October 2022, 10 months after the incident. The commission on October 30 ordered the Railways to pay Rs 25,000 to the complainant for deficiency in service and Rs 5,000 as litigation expenses.
It was said that it was the fault of the railways.
