Jaipur. By-election for Sardarshahr assembly seat in Churu district of Rajasthan will be held on December 5 next (Sardarshahr by-election announced). The Election Commission has announced this on Saturday. The seat fell vacant after the death of Congress MLA Pandit Bhanwarlal Sharma. According to the Election Commission, voting will be held on December 5. Counting of votes will take place three days after that on December 8. With the announcement of the by-election, Rajasthan Pradesh Congress Committee President Govind Singh Dotasra has claimed the victory of Congress from Sardarshahr in a tweet.

The Election Commission on Saturday announced the schedule of by-elections for five assembly seats in five states including Rajasthan. According to the schedule, the notification for the by-elections of these seats will be issued on November 10. Nominations can be filled till November 17. After that the voting will be held on December 5 and the counting of votes will take place on December 8.

Sardarshahr is considered to be a seat dominated by Congress.
This seat, which fell vacant due to the death of Congress MLA Bhanwarlal Sharma, is considered to be dominated by the Congress. Congress hopes that it will win this seat again riding on the wave of sympathy. Whereas BJP has a challenge to snatch this seat from Congress. This seat has been occupied by Congress for a long time. MLA Pandit Bhanwarlal Sharma died on October 9 after prolonged illness. He had been an MLA from this seat for seven times. BJP is constantly trying to snatch this seat from the Congress.

Assembly elections to be held in Rajasthan next year
There are total 200 assembly seats in Rajasthan. Of these, Congress currently has 107, BJP 71 and 13 Independents. One seat is vacant while the remaining seats are with other parties. Assembly elections are to be held in Rajasthan at the end of 2023. After the announcement of the by-election, PCC Chief Govind Singh Dotasra tweeted that on December 5, the announcement of the by-election on the Sardarshahr assembly seat of Rajasthan.
