Article 370 is history, it can never return to Jammu and Kashmir; said Amit Shah

Union Home Minister and senior BJP leader Amit Shah on Friday (September 06) released the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) election manifesto for the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly elections and said Article 370 is now “history” and it will never return to the Union Territory. Addressing a press conference in Jammu, senior BJP leader Shah said the last 10-year period will be written in golden letters in the history of the country and Jammu and Kashmir and urged people to vote for his party to continue good governance.

Voting for the assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir will be held in three phases on 18 and 25 September and 1 October. Earlier, Shah arrived here on a two-day visit to launch the BJP’s campaign for the elections. In his address before releasing the BJP’s manifesto, the Union Home Minister said, “I know the agenda of the National Conference (NC). I want to make it clear to the whole country that Article 370 has now become history and it will never return.

He said that Article 370 is no longer a part of the Constitution. He said, “This article has only given weapons and stones in the hands of the youth and pushed them towards terrorism.” Shah said, “I want to tell Omar Abdullah that whatever the results, we will not let you touch the reservation given to Gujjars, Bakarwals and Pahari people.”

He said that terrorism will be completely eradicated from Jammu and Kashmir. He said, “A white paper will be issued to fix the responsibility of those involved in the growth of terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir.” Appealing to the people of Jammu and Kashmir to vote for the BJP in the assembly elections, Shah said, “Give us a term of five years to ensure the development of the region.”
