Assam floods: Mukesh Ambani and Anant Ambani donated Rs 25 crore to CM Relief Fund, Himanta Biswa Sarma expressed gratitude

Guwahati. The Chief Minister of the state Himanta Biswa Sarma has thanked Reliance Industries Limited Chairman Mukesh Ambani and his son Anant Ambani for financially helping Assam, which is facing the wrath of floods. Sarma said in a tweet, “Heartfelt gratitude to Mukesh Ambani and Anant Ambani for standing with the people of Assam in this critical time by donating Rs 25 crore to the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund.” He added, “We appreciate such actions. This will go a long way in supporting our flood relief measures.”

Meanwhile, officials said that the flood situation in Assam remained grim on Friday as well. 45.34 lakh people of the state have been affected by the floods. According to officials, the Brahmaputra and Barak rivers along with their tributaries are in spate. However, the flood waters have started receding in some areas. With the death of seven more people in the last 24 hours due to floods in the state, the total number of people who died in this disaster so far has increased to 108. Most of the areas of Silchar, considered to be the gateway to the Barak Valley of Assam, are submerged.
