Powerful batsman Babar Azam has once again announced to step down from the captaincy of Pakistan’s ODI and T20 team. Babar Azam has submitted his resignation to the Pakistan Cricket Board. He had done this even after the ODI World Cup 2023, but later the Pakistan Cricket Board again handed over the responsibility of captaincy to him, but once again he surprised everyone by resigning. This time he has blamed his poor performance for resigning and said that he wants to focus on batting.
Babar Azam has informed his fans through a post made late at night that he is leaving the captaincy. He wrote on the It has been an honor for me to lead this team, but now the time has come to step down and focus on my playing role.”
He further wrote, “Captaincy has been a great experience, but it has also increased the workload. I want to prioritize my performance, enjoy my batting and spend quality time with my family, so that It makes me happy. Stepping down will give me clarity to move forward and focus more on my sport and personal development. I am grateful for your unwavering support and belief in me. I’m proud of what we’ve accomplished together and look forward to continuing to contribute to the team as a player. Thank you for your love and support.”
He had to resign from the captaincy after the poor performance of Pakistan team in the World Cup 2023. After this, PCB handed over the captaincy to Shaheen Shah Afridi, but after a few matches, Pakistan Cricket Board again gave the captaincy of white ball cricket back to Babar Azam and said that this is a strategic step. Shaheen Afridi looked upset due to this. However, the decision on who will be the captain will be taken soon, but currently the focus of Pakistan team is the Test series against England.
