PM Narendra Modi has informed that he received a call from Professor Muhammad Yunus. Both the leaders exchanged views on the current situation in Bangladesh. India reiterated India’s support for a democratic, stable, peaceful and progressive Bangladesh. PM Modi has informed that Mohammad Yunus has assured the safety and security of Hindus and all minorities in Bangladesh.
What did PM Modi say from the Red Fort?
Prime Minister Modi had mentioned Bangladesh from the Red Fort on the occasion of India’s 78th Independence Day. PM Modi had expressed hope that the situation in violence-affected Bangladesh will soon return to normal. He had said that 140 crore Indians are concerned about the safety of Hindus and minorities in the neighboring country. In his address from the ramparts of the Red Fort, he said that India is committed to peace and will remain a well-wisher of Bangladesh in its development journey.
PM had already sent a message to Yunus
After the coup of the Sheikh Hasina-led government in Bangladesh and Sheikh Hasina’s arrival in India, Mohammad Yunus was sworn in as the chief advisor of the interim government on August 8. After Yunus took charge, PM Modi congratulated him and called for ensuring the safety of Hindus and other minority communities in Bangladesh.
