Big relief to people in Delhi, BS-4 diesel and BS-3 petrol vehicles will run from today

New Delhi. Due to the increase in air pollution in Delhi, the ban imposed by the state government on diesel and petrol vehicles will be lifted from Monday. Actually, the state government had decided a few days ago that till November 13, BS-4 diesel and BS-3 petrol vehicles will not run in Delhi. However, the order was not carried forward. Due to this, this order will lapse tonight.

In view of the increase in pollution level, on the direction of CAQM, the Transport Department of Delhi Government had banned the operation of BS-4 diesel and BS-3 petrol vehicles in Delhi. Delhi’s air quality improved to ‘poor’ category on Sunday from ‘very poor’ category a day earlier. According to the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), Delhi’s Air Quality Index (AQI) was recorded at 295 at 9 am.

The AQI was in the ‘very poor’ category in 21 out of 37 monitoring stations. NSIT Dwarka recorded 399, Shadipur 346, Anand Vihar 342, RK Puram 328 and Jahangirpuri 326. Delhi’s 24-hour average air quality index (AQI) improved from 346 on Friday to 303 on Saturday. It was 295 on Thursday.

It is noteworthy that AQI between zero and 50 is considered ‘good’, between 51 and 100 ‘satisfactory’, between 101 and 200 ‘moderate’, between 201 and 300 ‘poor’, between 301 and 400 ‘very poor’. And between 401 and 500 are considered in the ‘severe’ category.

According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the minimum temperature was recorded at 12.6 degrees Celsius, one degree below normal. The relative humidity was recorded at 83 per cent at 8.30 am, the IMD said. The Meteorological Department has forecast mainly clear skies during the day and the maximum temperature is likely to be 28 degrees Celsius. (from input language)
