Bihar: Anti-social elements put poison in the pond, eight lakh fishes died

Gopalganj. A case of mischievous elements pouring poison in a pond has come to light. About 8 lakh fish died due to ingestion of poison. The matter is of Ramchandrapur village of Thawe police station area. There is an atmosphere of panic among the fishermen regarding this incident.

It is said that Ramakant Ram, Amit Kumar and Vishal Ram of the village did fisheries by taking this big pond located in Ramchandrapur village on lease for five years. The fish were ready and were to be sold at the end of the month of Sawan. But after finding the spot, poison was poured into the pond being fished by anti-social elements.

It is being told that no one came to know about this. But, the fishes of the pond started dying from late Thursday evening itself. Seeing this, there was a stir among the fishermen. At the same time, in this case, the fishermen have requested for action by applying for registering an FIR against unknown in the police station. Victim fisherman Ramakant Ram told that on Friday morning, about 30 to 32 quintals of fish died, the value of which is said to be above 8 lakhs.

The victim fisherman told that when the dead fish were examined in the laboratory located at the district headquarters, the amount of poison in the pond was found to be 8.1. After the investigation report, it became clear that the fish have been killed by putting poison in the pond by mischievous elements, due to which the property of the fishermen has been ruined.

Fishermen Amit Kumar and Vishal Ram told that for the last three-four years, they take fish on lease by taking ponds, due to which many families are fed. The fish farmers told that till now the process of putting poison in this pond has not come to the fore.

But, due to the mischievous elements, there is an atmosphere of fear among the fishermen. Sadar SDPO Sanjeev Kumar said that after receiving the application from the fishermen, action will be taken by registering an FIR.
