BJP hoisted the flag of victory, NDA got majority in Rajya Sabha; know the condition of Congress

After the by-elections of 12 Rajya Sabha seats, NDA has got a majority in the effective house number in the Upper House of Parliament. The effective number in the 245-member House is now 237, in which NDA now has the support of 112 MPs along with six nominated and one independent MP. In this way, it has the support of 119 MPs, which is a clear majority in the effective house.

In the by-election for 12 Rajya Sabha seats, BJP got nine seats and its alliance partner got two seats. One seat went to Congress. With this, the number of BJP members in Rajya Sabha has increased to 96, while Congress has 27 members. Along with BJP’s 96 members in NDA, there are four members of JD(U), three of NCP and one member each of AGP, JDS, MNF, NPP, PMK, RLD, RPI, Shiv Sena, RLM. NDA also has the support of six nominated and one independent.

All 12 seats were won unopposed

12 candidates including Union Minister George Kurien, Union Minister of State Ravneet Singh Bittu and former Union Minister Upendra Kushwaha won unopposed in the Rajya Sabha by-election on Tuesday. Among the members elected unopposed, nine are from BJP, one from Congress, one from NCP (Ajit Pawar) and one from Rashtriya Lok Morcha.

BJP candidate and Union Minister of State Bittu has won from Rajasthan, George Kurien from Madhya Pradesh, Upendra Kushwaha and Manan Kumar Mishra from Bihar, Rajiv Bhattacharya from Tripura, BJP’s Kiran Chaudhary from Haryana, Dhairyasheel Patil from Maharashtra, Mamta Mohanta from Odisha and Mission Ranjan Das and Rameshwar Teli from Assam. Apart from this, Abhishek Manu Singhvi of Congress has won the Rajya Sabha elections from Telangana. Nitin Patil of NCP (Ajit Pawar) has won from Maharashtra.

Let us tell you that as per the schedule, the last date for withdrawal of nomination for Rajya Sabha by-election was 27th August. Voting was scheduled to be held on 3rd September but on the last date for withdrawal of nomination i.e. 27th August, candidates were elected unopposed on all 12 seats, hence there is no need for election now.
