The way the entire country was shaken by the brutality with the innocent daughter of Kolkata, the echo of the same pain was heard in the Supreme Court as well. The Supreme Court also asked the same questions to the Mamata government that are in the minds of the common people. The court also showed the same sensitivity towards the heinous crime that people have. The court’s comments reflected the same anger about the negligence of the police, which is on the tongue of the protesting doctors. The instructions given by the Supreme Court will increase the confidence of the people. People will feel that when the Supreme Court is hearing this case, asking for a report from the CBI, then justice will be done. Now there is pressure on Mamata Banerjee as well. That pressure is now visible. The Kolkata Police was hesitant to even take the name of Sandeep Ghosh till now, now the police is registering one case after another against the same former principal. This is the first proof of the effect of the strict stand of the Supreme Court. And now the speed with which the CBI is connecting each link of the people involved in this heinous and horrific crime, it seems that the truth will come out soon.

However, CBI now has only 36 hours to submit a status report to the Supreme Court. One should not expect that CBI will find out the whole truth in such a short time, but on August 22, those Trinamool Congress leaders will definitely get an answer who were repeatedly asking that CBI should now tell what it did in the five-day investigation? What did it find out? What flaws did it find in the investigation of Kolkata Police? However, the Supreme Court clearly said that the case of Bengal should not be seen as a separate case. This case has exposed the conditions in which our doctors are working, how many irregularities are there in our system? Therefore, learning a lesson from this case, efforts should be made to remove all those irregularities. It is true that if the doctors had not raised their voice, had not protested on the streets, then the court and the government would never have noticed the conditions in which the doctors work.

Most hospitals do not have proper rest rooms. Somewhere there are no beds and somewhere there are no curtains. Girls also have to live and sleep in similar conditions. There are no separate toilets for male and female doctors. Somewhere there is dirt and somewhere there is extreme heat. From the security point of view, there are no CCTV cameras. Although not all hospitals are like this, but this is the condition of most government hospitals. It is hoped that the task force formed by the Supreme Court will pay attention to all these things and give some practical suggestions regarding the convenience and security of doctors. There is another aspect of this entire protest. That is the patients suffering due to lack of treatment. Due to the doctors’ strike, the condition of hospitals is bad. In the last two days, I have come to know of many such cases where the patient needs to be admitted in the ICU but there are no doctors in the ICU, that is why they are not being admitted. The number of patients facing emergency is very high. That is why doctors should accept the appeal of the Supreme Court, end their protest and return to the hospitals. Lakhs of patients across the country are suffering due to lack of treatment. Taking care of them and treating them is both the responsibility and the duty of our doctors. (Rajat Sharma)
