A two-member panel constituted by the government has made sensational revelations in the case of sexual abuse of two innocent girls in a school in Badlapur in Thane district of Maharashtra. The preliminary report of the committee states that both the 3 and 4 year old girls of kindergarten were sexually abused not once but several times in the last 15 days, due to which their hymen was ruptured.
The incident of sexual assault on two innocent girls studying in kindergarten had created outrage in Badlapur. The school administration and police are under strict scrutiny for their negligence in handling this case. The committee’s investigation report has also raised many serious questions on the school administration which failed to handle this case. According to sources, the report states that the school delayed in reporting the incident, while the principal had informed the school trustee on August 14 itself. Despite this, the school administration neither informed the concerned parents nor met them.
The report also said that the hospital where the girls were treated delayed medical treatment for 12 hours. Apart from this, the report said that the accused Akshay Shinde was hired in the school without checking his identity and background. Akshay started working as a contract employee from August 1. India Today’s report quoted sources as saying that the report found a major lapse in his unhindered access to all areas of the school, including the women’s toilets, and his lack of an identity card.

The report suspects the accused Akshay Shinde to be a habitual offender and recommends a background check on him. It has also been asked to investigate how and through which agency he was appointed. The report further states that the school toilet is at a secluded place far away from the staff room and no CCTV has been installed there for security. The school management had claimed that both the girls had cycled for a long time, due to which their hymen was ruptured but the investigation committee has now exposed everything.
It is noteworthy that thousands of protesters took to the streets on Tuesday and blocked the tracks of Badlapur railway station after two four-year-old girls were allegedly sexually assaulted by a male attendant in a school toilet in Badlapur. At least 25 policemen of the city police were injured in incidents of stone pelting at the railway station and other parts of Badlapur during the protest. Police have arrested 72 people in connection with the violence. The accused were arrested on August 17. They have been sent to police custody till August 26.
