A heated debate is going on between the two parties to prove who betrayed whom in the breaking of the alliance between Akhilesh Yadav’s Samajwadi Party (SP) and Mayawati’s Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP). Former Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav said on Saturday that calling or not picking up the phone is a small matter. He said that he used to say that the alliance of SP and BSP will change the politics of the country but there were some circumstances due to which the alliance broke. He once again accused Mayawati and BSP of cheating and said that when the news of the breaking of the alliance was received, an old leader of BSP was sitting with him on the stage. He had said that we too were cheated like this, you too have been cheated.
Mayawati has released a booklet for BSP workers in which she has written her Mann Ki Baat from the formation of BSP till now. In this booklet, Mayawati has claimed that after the 2019 Lok Sabha election results, Akhilesh Yadav stopped picking up her and other BSP leaders’ calls, so she broke the alliance to protect her self-respect. Mayawati has said in the book that there is no place for any PDA in SP except a particular caste. Mayawati has also warned the Brahmin community about SP.
When the matter of not picking up the phone came to light in the booklet, Akhilesh Yadav had told the journalists on the same day that on the day the alliance was broken, he was in a program in Azamgarh with the leaders of SP and BSP. When the news reached, he himself called to ask why the alliance was being broken. Akhilesh Yadav had said that many times people say such things to hide their point.
On being asked by journalists after the Hindi Diwas program at the SP office in Lucknow, Akhilesh Yadav said, “It was such an alliance that Baba Saheb Bhimrao Ambedkar and Ram Manohar Lohia wanted to do in their lifetime, but they could not do it. I used to say that the SP-BSP alliance will change the politics of the country. There were some circumstances due to which the alliance could not work. It is a very small matter that who did not pick up whose phone, who called whom. You must have the record of that time. Very old leaders of BSP were sitting next to me on my stage. When I got the information that the SP-BSP alliance has been broken, the first thing I asked them was what else should we do. They said that we too were cheated in the same way, you too have been cheated.”
