China’s Ambassador to India Xu Feihong on Thursday heaped praise on Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s “reform, perform and transform” policy. The Chinese ambassador said under Modi’s leadership, India’s economy has grown rapidly and people’s living standards have steadily improved. “Since the 1990s, India has actively promoted economic and social reforms. Under the leadership of Prime Minister Modi, the Indian government has carried forward the policy of “reform, perform and transform” and India’s economy has grown rapidly and people’s living standards have steadily improved,” Xu Feihong said.
Chinese Ambassador to India, Xu Feihong said at a conference that “On the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the Five Principles of Peaceful Coexistence, President Xi Jinping reiterated that China’s resolve to follow the path of peaceful development will remain unwavering. The leaders of China and India have reached an important consensus that China and India are partners, not rivals. They are not threats to each other, but opportunities for development.” He also said that this consensus has not only promoted the development of bilateral relations but also provided important guidelines for the two countries to promote modernization.
Xu Feihong pointed out that China-India relations are currently at an important stage of improvement and development. In recent months, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi and Indian Foreign Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar have met twice, and a few days ago the Chinese ambassador also met National Security Advisor Ajit Doval. During these meetings, in-depth communication was held on the improvement of bilateral relations and important consensus was reached.
The Ambassador also discussed India’s economic progress and reforms, saying, “Since the 1990s, India has actively promoted economic and social reforms. Under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Government of India has pursued the policy of ‘Reform, Perform and Transform’, which has led to India’s economy growing rapidly and the living standards of the people improving continuously. I congratulate India on the achievements made through reforms.”
He also said, “Only countries like China and India can understand how much effort it takes to promote reform in a country with a population of 1.4 billion. We are willing to share experience on reforms with India, coordinate development strategies, and learn from each other so that we can make progress together.” This statement makes it clear that China and India are taking new initiatives to improve their relations and many new doors of economic reform and development can open for both countries.
