Clashes again in JNU: Two groups of students clashed, video viral, report sought from security branch

New Delhi. After a scuffle broke out between two groups of students on the campus of Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), university administration officials have directed the security wing to take necessary steps and submit a detailed report on the incident. Actually, this incident of scuffle near Narmada hostel on Thursday was the result of incidents at a birthday party a day earlier.

The police have registered two separate FIRs in connection with the incident. According to police, two students were injured in the scuffle, while university sources claimed that only one student was injured. According to a statement issued by the JNU administration on Thursday night, the university administration reiterated its resolve to have a zero-tolerance policy towards any form of violence on the campus and appealed to the students to refrain from resorting to violence.

University sought report
The university administration said, ‘It has come to the notice of the university administration that a scuffle broke out between two groups of students on the campus over a personal enmity. Taking the matter seriously, the JNU authority has directed the Dean of Students and Security Branch to take necessary steps and submit a detailed report on the incident.

In the video, the mask first appeared with the student sticks
Video clips purported of the incident surfaced on social media platforms, in which some students can be seen running around the campus with sticks in their hands. In a video clip, some students wearing masks were seen with sticks. One of them was wearing a JNU sweatshirt. Police said they would verify the authenticity of the video. University sources as well as police said that no political group was involved in the incident.
