New Delhi, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge on Monday handed over additional charge of Delhi to Ajay Kumar till the MCD elections are over as the regular in-charge of the party’s unit in the capital is busy with the Gujarat Assembly polls. The party in-charge of Delhi, Shaktisinh Gohil, is busy with the Gujarat Assembly elections and the Congress President has approved the proposal to hand over additional charge of Delhi to AICC in-charge (Sikkim, Tripura, Nagaland) Ajay Kumar, the party said in a statement.
The party has also constituted a three-member screening committee under the chairmanship of AICC general secretary Avinash Pandey for the upcoming elections to the Municipal Corporation of Delhi. Pandey is the chairman of the panel, while party MPs K Jayakumar and Qazi Mohammad Nizamuddin are its members. Let us inform you that the State Election Commissioner Vijay Dev had announced on Friday that the voting for the municipal elections in Delhi will be held on December 4 and the counting of votes will take place on December 7. This will be the first civic polls after the new delimitation exercise, and the much-awaited Voting will take place in the interval between the two phases of the Gujarat Assembly elections, which will be held on December 1 and 5.
