The Prime Minister said that Ganesh Utsav is not just a matter of faith for the country, but it has played an important role in our freedom movement. He said that even today people who want to divide the society have problems with Ganesh Utsav. PM Modi said, “The country is celebrating Hyderabad Liberation Day today. At the time of independence, opportunists were ready to break India into pieces to gain power but Sardar Patel came forward and united the country. He overcame the anti-India extremist forces in Hyderabad and liberated it on September 17. Hyderabad Liberation Day is not just a date but an inspiration for us about our responsibilities towards our country… We also have to pay attention to the challenges that are trying to push the country back. Ganesh Utsav is not just a religious festival. It has played an important role in the independence of our country. Dividing us in the name of castes was a weapon of the British but Lokmanya Tilak awakened the country by publicly organizing Ganesh Utsav. Today everyone participates in Ganesh Utsav without any discrimination.”
