Congress loses Nagaland’s Tapi seat, NDPP candidate Wangpang Konyak wins

Kohima: Counting of votes for assembly elections is going on in four states. BJP’s lead remains intact in three of these four states, while Congress is leading in one state, Telangana. Whereas in Mizoram, counting of votes will be done tomorrow. Apart from all this, by-election was also held on an assembly seat in Nagaland. This by-election was held in Tapi assembly seat of Mon district of Nagaland. Counting of votes started here also from 8 am in the morning and now the results of the by-election held on this seat have also come.

Congress candidate lost

In fact, the Congress party has suffered a crushing defeat in the by-election on Tapi assembly seat of Nagaland. The Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP) has won here. NDPP candidate Wangpang Konyak has defeated Congress candidate Wanglem Konyak from Tapi assembly seat. He defeated the Congress candidate by 5333 votes. Let us tell you that on this seat, 10053 votes were in favor of NDPP candidate Wangpang, while Congress candidate got 4720 votes.

By-election held after the death of NDPP MLA

Let us tell you that NDPP MLA Noke Wangnao passed away on August 28. After his death, re-polling has been conducted on this seat. This time also NDPP has won. Voting was held in Tapi on 7 November. 96.25 percent votes were cast in Tapi assembly seat of Nagaland. During this period, strict security arrangements were made and CCTV cameras were also installed at all the polling stations.
