Congress’s third list released

New Delhi: Congress on Thursday released the third list of 56 candidates for the Lok Sabha elections, which includes the names of many prominent leaders including Adhir Ranjan Choudhary. Chaudhary has been made a candidate once again from his current parliamentary constituency Baharampur (West Bengal). Radhakrishna, son-in-law of Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, has been given the ticket from Gulbarga in Karnataka. Kharge has also been an MP from here.

138 candidates announced so far

Congress has so far announced 138 candidates for the Lok Sabha elections. It had declared 39 candidates in the first list and 43 candidates in the second list. According to the third list of candidates released by the Congress, there are candidates for two seats in Aranachal Pradesh, 11 in Gujarat, 17 in Karnataka, seven in Maharashtra, five in Rajasthan, five in Telangana, eight in West Bengal and only one seat in Puducherry. D Nagendra has been given ticket from Secunderabad seat of Telangana and Ranjith Reddy has been given ticket from Chevella. Ranjit Reddy had recently left Bharat Rashtra Samiti and joined Congress. Praniti Shinde, daughter of former Home Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde, has been made the candidate. In place of current MP Abu Hasim Khan Choudhary from Malda South seat of West Bengal, his son Isa Khan Choudhary has been given the ticket. Mansoor Khan, son of former Union Minister Rahman Khan, has been given the ticket from Karnataka’s Bengaluru Central parliamentary constituency. Elections for the 18th Lok Sabha in the country will start from April 19. After this, voting will be held in six more phases on 26 April, 7 May, 13 May, 20 May, 25 May and 1 June.
