New Delhi. Surat court on Thursday sentenced Congress leader Rahul Gandhi to two years in the ‘Modi surname’ case. However, immediately after this, the court granted him bail on a bond of Rs 15,000. In fact, Rahul was accused of making controversial remarks on the Modi surname during a rally in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections. After the court’s decision, there has been a reaction from the BJP in this matter as well.
The BJP on Thursday asserted that if Rahul Gandhi abuses people, the law will take its own course. Rahul Gandhi has been sentenced to two years in a defamation case by a court in Surat. He said and asked, ‘Does the Congress want to keep the judiciary also in its pocket.’ Attacking the Congress leader’s tweet saying ‘Truth is my God’, Ravi Shankar Prasad said, ‘Rahul Gandhi said that I believe in truth and non-violence. Does believing in truth and non-violence mean humiliating people?
The former Union Minister said, ‘If Rahul Gandhi has the right to insult people and use abusive words, then people suffering from his abusive words have the right to file a defamation case. But the Congress party has objection to this, it wants complete freedom to abuse Rahul Gandhi. BJP leader and former Law Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad targeted Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge for questioning the court’s decision.
He said, ‘Kharge said that the decision of the court has been changed time and again. The Congress party does not believe in the judiciary. Does it want to keep the judiciary in its pocket as well? Even in the Rafale case, Rahul Gandhi questioned the court’s decision and then apologised. We respect criticism, but Rahul Gandhi does not criticize, Rahul Gandhi defames the country, defames democracy and defames the people of the country.
