Preparations are in full swing for the India Day parade in America. However, a controversy has arisen even before that. Actually, there is a plan to float the tableau of the newly built Ram temple in Ayodhya in the India Day parade to be held in New York. Some organizations there have objected to this and called it anti-Muslim. A letter has also been written to the Mayor of New York regarding this and it has been said that the plan to float the temple should be removed from the event. Let us tell you that recently Pran Pratishtha has taken place in the temple of Lord Ram in Ayodhya. Devotees from the country and the world are coming to see Lord Ram.
Some organizations have raised objections in a letter written to New York Mayor Eric Adams and Governor Kathy Hochul. This letter states that floating the replica of Ram Mandir would be anti-Muslim. Not only this, the organizations also said that doing so would glorify the incident of demolition of the mosque. The organizations that wrote the letter are American Islamic Relations Council, Indian American Muslim Council and Hindus for Human Rights. The letter states that the presence of floats shows the desire of these groups to mix Hindu nationalist ideology with Indian identity. But India is a secular country.
At the same time, the Vishwa Hindu Parishad of America, which is organizing the tableau, says that it represents a Hindu place of worship. Its purpose is to glorify the deity seen as an important part of Indian and Hindu identity. The Hindu American Foundation said that it is an exercise of freedom of expression. The Federation of Indian Associations said that the parade represents the cultural diversity of India. It will include tableaux from different communities. Adams said in a press conference earlier this week that there is no place for hatred. If there is a tableau or a person in the parade who is promoting hatred, then they should not do it.
