Court sentenced the convict of sexual assault of a girl child to 20 years in Kerala, fined one lakh rupees

Kerala Court: A 48-year-old man in Kerala has been sentenced to 20 years in prison after being found guilty of sexually assaulting a minor girl. Along with this, a fine of one lakh rupees was also imposed on him. Nisha Vijayakumar, Special Public Prosecutor of Kerala said that Pattambi Special Rapid Court Judge Satish Kumar in his judgment directed that the amount of the fine be given to the victim’s family.

Palakkad district incident

The incident of sexual assault with a minor girl is from Nattukal area of ​​Palakkad district of the state. The convict had sexually assaulted the minor girl at his house. This incident is from the year 2020.

At the time when this incident took place, the age of the victim was only seven years. The Special Public Prosecutor said that the man took the girl to his house on some pretext and sexually assaulted her there.

15 witnesses gave statements

The Special Public Prosecutor said that 15 people testified in this sexual harassment case. Thereafter the statement was recorded. Earlier too, a Kerala court had sentenced a 66-year-old man to four years’ imprisonment for sexually assaulting a minor girl.

Pattambi Special Rapid Court Judge Satish Kumar also imposed a fine of Rs 50,000 on the convict Moideen Kutty. This case was from a village in Palakkad district of Kerala.

The girl had gone to Moideen Kutty’s shop to buy some items, during which she sexually assaulted the minor. Under Section 7 of the POCSO Act, the person found guilty is punished with a minimum imprisonment of three years and a maximum of five years in jail.
