Supreme Court’s rebuke to AAP.

The Supreme Court has once again reprimanded the Delhi government for not releasing funds for the Delhi-Meerut Rapid Rail Transport System (RRTS) project. The court strongly questioned the Delhi government that they have a budget provision for publicity or advertising and not for the railway project. Let us tell you that PM Modi had inaugurated a 17 kilometer section of the Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS) last month. This is the country’s first mass rapid system dedicated to regional connectivity.

What did the court say?

Justice Sanjay Kishan Kaul, while hearing the case, asked the Delhi government that you can make a budgetary provision of Rs 500 crore for advertisement but you cannot make a provision of Rs 400 crore for this project? Let us inform that it was informed by the Kejriwal led government that some transfers have been made. After this the court reprimanded the government.

I was reprimanded earlier also

The Delhi government was earlier reprimanded for not releasing funds for the rapid rail. Expressing displeasure over non-release of funds, the court had directed the government to release the money within 1 week. The court had even said in a strict tone that if the funds were not released, then the funding would be done by banning the advertising budget of the Delhi government.

What is RRTS?

The RRTS is designed to travel at speeds of up to 180 kmph. However its operating speed is 160 kmph. The Prime Minister’s Office had said that this is a transformative initiative for regional development. RRTS is designed to provide high-speed trains for intercity commute in 15 minutes. If necessary, this train service can also reach the level of every five minutes.
