Cyclone ‘Mandus’ will spoil the weather of these states, IMD issued alert, there will be severe rain

New Delhi. The name ‘Mandus’ has raised concerns for some parts of India. A cyclone is likely to form over the Bay of Bengal this week and reach the adjoining coasts of Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Andhra Pradesh. This will be the second post-monsoon cyclone and once formed it will be known as ‘Mandus’. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Monday said that the low pressure area over South Andaman Sea and neighborhood is likely to move west-northwestwards and may form a depression over Southeast Bay of Bengal by the evening of December 6.

According to HT, the low pressure area may turn into a cyclonic storm and reach the southwest Bay of Bengal near northern Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and adjoining south Andhra Pradesh coast by the morning of 8 December. IMD said that due to this there is a possibility of light or moderate rain in Andaman and Nicobar Islands on Tuesday. The IMD also said that there is a possibility of heavy rain at a few places over North Coastal Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal from the midnight of 7th December.

There is a possibility of heavy to very heavy rainfall at isolated places and heavy to very heavy rainfall at isolated places over North Tamil Nadu and Puducherry on December 8 and heavy to very heavy rainfall over Tamil Nadu on December 9. The Meteorological Department has predicted that the wind speed will gradually increase to 55-65 kmph gusting to 75 kmph on December 7. On the other hand, on December 8, it will run at a speed of 70-80 kmph in the same area, the wind speed is likely to reach 90 kmph here on December 8.

The weather forecast states that the sea condition is likely to be very rough over southwest and adjoining areas of west central Bay of Bengal from December 6 to December 8. The sea condition is going to be rough on the coasts of South Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Sri Lanka on 7 and 9 December. On the other hand, on December 8, the sea condition is likely to be very bad on these coasts.
