Cyclone Sitrang: Cyclone Sitrang reached Assam via West Bengal, Meghalaya, Mizoram and Tripura on high alert

Guwahati: After causing havoc in Bangladesh, Cyclone Sitarang has reached Assam via West Bengal. The storm has caused a lot of damage in Assam. The Meteorological Department said in its statement that strong wind speed reaching 25-35 kmph is very likely to occur over South Assam and adjoining Meghalaya, Mizoram and Tripura during the next 6 hours and thereafter it will decrease. The Meteorological Department said that light to moderate rain is very likely at most places with isolated heavy rains over Arunachal Pradesh, Northeast Assam and remaining parts of Assam, Meghalaya and Nagaland. Dry weather is likely over most parts of Northwest and Central India.
