There was a stir once again when a cylinder was found on the railway track in UP. Fire fighting gas cylinder was found lying on the track near Govindpuri railway station. In the early hours of Sunday, when AK Bhasin, the driver of 12534 Pushpak Express coming from Mumbai towards Kanpur, noticed the incident, he stopped the train by applying sudden brakes. After this immediately messaged the control. Investigation has revealed that this is a railway safety cylinder which is used for fire prevention in trains. The driver kept the cylinder in his cabin and handed it over to the RPF at Kanpur Central. Let us tell you that this is the fourth time in 45 days that a cylinder has been found on the track in Kanpur.
Railway Police and Carriage and Wagon Departments have registered the information and started their investigation. Preliminary investigation has revealed that 22538 Kushinagar Express had passed through here before Pushpak. This cylinder must have fallen from the same train. This train goes to Gorakhpur. Now investigation is being done as to how the cylinder fell from the train. It is also being investigated whether any passenger mischievously dropped the cylinder?
The cylinder was 400 meters away from the station.
Driver AK Bhasin told that Pushpak Express was moving from Bhimsen towards Kanpur Central. She was just about to reach Govimpuri station when a cylinder was seen on the track at 400 meters. The train stopped without any delay and informed the control at 4:14 in the morning. After this, when the cylinder was checked with the assistant driver, the date of issue was written on the cylinder. RPF has given the cylinder to the Carriage and Wagon Department. Railways has constituted a three-member committee to find out the truth about the cylinder falling.

Kanpur Central’s Deputy CTM Ashutosh Singh said, a joint investigation report is being prepared on the cylinder being found on the track. The rest of the investigation will be done by the security forces and responsible sections. It is also being investigated how this cylinder fell from the train.
Fire cylinder was issued from Gorakhpur
Kanpur. Departmental investigation of Railways has revealed that the cylinder found lying on the holding line of Govindpuri station was issued from Gorakhpur zone. For this reason, railway officials believe that the cylinder has fallen from a train going to Gorakhpur from this track. For this, a message has been sent to Gorakhpur Control so that it can be known exactly which train this cylinder belongs to.
There are 22 to 24 safety cylinders in every train.
On an average, 22-24 Rail Safety Gas cylinders are kept in one train of Mail and Express. There are four cylinders in the driver’s cabin, two in the guard cabin and two in each AC coupe of the train. All these cylinders are kept tied to leaf clips in the gallery.
Fourth incident in 45 days giving many indications
- August 16 – When a boulder was placed on the track in front of Panki Factory area on Jhansi route, all the coaches of Sabarmati derailed. Investigation continues.
- 08 September: Gas cylinder, petrol filled bottle and other items recovered on the track in front of Munderi village between Barrajpur and Uttaripura stations on Farrukhabad railway line. Police and IB are investigating. Investigation continues.
- September 22- Empty gas cylinder kept on the loopline of Prempur station between Kanpur Central and Fatehpur. The goods train driver stopped the train. GRP is investigating. Result zero.
- 29 September- Rail safety gas cylinder found on the holding line of Govindpuri station. A committee was formed to investigate.
