Dehradun. Dehradun, the capital of Uttarakhand, is going to be recognized as a smart city, but the decaying roads here are sabotaging its image. Now the District Magistrate (DM) Sonika has started a campaign to make the roads of Doon pothole-free. The District Magistrate is running a campaign on Facebook with the page ‘Patchless Roads of Dehradun’. If a citizen has potholes on the roads around his house, then he can inform the district administration about this problem.
Ajit Singh, a resident of Dehradun, says that this campaign launched by the district administration is commendable. There is a need to work on this on the ground because everyone is troubled by potholes everywhere in the city. During the rainy season, the potholes get filled with water which invites road accidents. Because of this, dozens of accidents have happened so far. Another resident, Shobhnath, says that there is no use in running a campaign on Facebook. Benefit will be there when work is done on the roads. He said that many campaigns are run, but still the problems of the common people are not resolved. At places, potholes and poor patchwork on the roads create problems for the drivers.
District Magistrate Sonika informed that through this platform any citizen can give information related to potholed roads to the district administration. Taking action on this, the road will be repaired.
People are expecting a lot from this campaign being run by the district administration through Facebook. It is being appreciated on social media. So right there, many people are asking for work on the ground. Apart from the Facebook page, through the portal (smartcitydehradun.uk.gov.in) and mail id (email@example.com) the administration can also be made aware of their problems related to the roads.
