Delhi Weather: Monsoon continues to bless Delhi. Heavy rains lashed many areas of South, West and Central Delhi on Tuesday evening and the sky remained cloudy throughout the day. The minimum temperature in the city was recorded at 25.2 degrees Celsius. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) says that Delhi is still on a ‘yellow’ alert. The department has predicted heavy rains with thunderstorms on Wednesday. A yellow alert has also been issued for Thursday. ‘Yellow alert’ means be cautious as the situation will worsen, causing disruption in daily life.
Yellow alert for two days
The Meteorological Department has issued a yellow alert for heavy rain on Wednesday and Thursday. During this time, strong winds will blow at a speed of 12 kilometers per hour. The sky will remain cloudy and there will be rain with thunder. In such a situation, people going to school and office should not forget to keep umbrellas and raincoats with them. They may also have to face traffic jams due to waterlogging.
Seven-day forecast
According to the Meteorological Department, on Wednesday, there will be moderate rain in the capital. On Thursday, its speed will increase and there may be torrential rain. On Friday, there will be light rain which will make the weather cool. After this, the rainy season may take a break. The weekend will be cloudy but there is less chance of rain. If the forecast of the department is to be believed, only clouds will remain on Saturday and Sunday. The next week will also start with clouds. From Tuesday, the weather will change again and light to moderate rain may knock in the capital.
So far this year’s monsoon has received 913.1 mm of rain
Delhi has so far recorded 913.1 mm rainfall this monsoon, which is 56 per cent more than normal. This information was received from the data of the Meteorological Department. Mahesh Palawat of private weather forecaster Skymet Weather Services told ‘PTI-Bhasha’ that this year Delhi has witnessed unusually more rainy days.
