Malaysian police have busted child sexual abuse racket in 20 Islamic charity homes. During the raids conducted in two states, police rescued more than 400 children including 201 girls. Police officials said that during the raid, the team arrested 171 people including clerics. In fact, earlier this month, police received a complaint that incidents like abuse, sexual harassment and molestation of children were happening in charity homes.
Malaysia’s top police officer Razaruddin Hussein revealed the case in a press conference that all these charity homes were operated by Global Ikhwan Services and Business (GISB). GISB is a Malaysian firm involved in the supermarket business. According to its website, it operates in many countries including Indonesia, Singapore, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, France, Australia and Thailand. GISB did not immediately respond to the allegations of sexual abuse, but in a statement, GISB denied separate social media reports that the company exploited children. Said that the company is not involved in any illegal activity and it will cooperate with police officials to resolve the issue.
Malaysian authorities rescued more than 400 children and teenagers on Wednesday, a top police official said. Police found that sexual abuse was being carried out in these charity homes run by a major Islamic business organization linked to a banned religious sect. Police raided these places on Wednesday after receiving complaints and rescued the children. The ages of all the children are between 1 year and 17 years. Razaruddin Hussain said that during the operation, police arrested 171 people, including clerics, hostel supervisors and institution heads. Those arrested include 66 men and 105 women, whose ages are between 17 and 64 years.
Sensational revelations by police
Razaruddin said that initial police investigations have found that the rescued children were children of Malaysian GISB employees. They were sent to these children’s homes soon after their birth. After that, they were subjected to various types of abuse. The victims were allegedly raped by the accused in the charity homes and later they were taught to rape other children. Razaruddin further revealed that the children who resisted were tortured in many ways by placing hot spoons on their hands.
The name of which Islamic organization is coming up
Malaysia’s Al-Arqam religious sect is being blamed for the dirty scandal going on in these charity homes protected by GISB. This organization was banned by the Malaysian government in 1994. GISB has admitted its connection with the organization, but now it describes itself as an Islamic group based on Muslim practices.
