Presidential Eletion Result 2022: Draupadi Murmu on Thursday created history by becoming India’s first tribal president by defeating opposition candidate Yashwant Sinha in a one-sided contest. Draupadi Murmu won by a huge margin against Sinha after securing more than 64 per cent valid votes in the counting of votes of MPs and MLAs, including the electoral college, to become the 15th President of the country. After the end of the counting process that lasted more than ten hours, Returning Officer PC Modi declared Murmu the winner and said he got 6,76,803 votes against Sinha’s 3,80,177.

1- Many MLAs of the states went against the stand of their parties and voted in favor of National Democratic Alliance candidate Draupadi Murmu in the presidential election and helped her defeat Yashwant Sinha, the candidate of the opposition camp.

2-Bharatiya Janata Party sources claimed that 125 MLAs did cross voting. It has also been revealed in the counting of votes that Murmu got the benefit of cross voting of 17 MPs. A significant number of MLAs from opposition parties in Assam, Jharkhand and Madhya Pradesh voted in favor of the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance candidate.

3- It is believed that 22 MLAs from Assam and 20 from Madhya Pradesh did cross voting. Six MLAs each from Bihar and Chhattisgarh, four from Goa and 10 from Gujarat will also have cross-voted. All the MLAs except one MLA from Kerala voted for Sinha while Murmu got all the votes from Andhra Pradesh.

4- She will be the first President to be born after independence and will be the youngest President to occupy the top post. She is also the second woman to become president. She will take the oath of office and secrecy on July 25. With the swearing in, she will become the first tribal president of the country to belong to the tribal community.

5- His victory was sealed only after the third round of counting, when the returning officer announced that Murmu had received more than 53 percent of the total valid votes, while the ballot papers of 10 states and union territories were declared. The counting was going on.

6-Congratulations on the victory of opposition candidate Yashwant Sinha Murmu in the presidential election. She said that every Indian hopes that as the 15th President, she will act as the “Guardian of the Constitution” without any fear or favour.

7-Sinha in a statement thanked the leaders of the opposition parties for choosing him as their candidate in this election. He said, “I also thank all the members of the electoral college (Electoral College) who voted for me. I fully accepted the proposal of the opposition parties on the basis of the Karma Yoga exhortation given by Lord Krishna in the Bhagavad Gita that ‘Keep doing your duty without expecting results’.

8- He said, “I have fulfilled my duty sincerely because of my love for my country. The issues I raised during my campaign are relevant.” In a statement, Sinha also expressed concern over the situation in the country, saying India has never seen “political corruption on such a large scale”. , and this combined with the “poisonous politics of polarization” poses a serious threat to democracy and communal harmony.

9-He also said that during his election campaign, he tried to put forth the views, concerns and commitments of the opposition parties on major issues before the country and the common people. Sinha said, “I have expressed strong concern against the opposition parties and their leaders for openly and rampant weaponization of Enforcement Directorate (ED), Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), Income Tax Department and even Governor’s offices. .”

10-Prime Minister Narendra Modi and BJP President J. P. Nadda went to Murmu’s residence to congratulate him. Modi said that India has created history by electing a leader born in a tribal community, belonging to a remote part of eastern India, as the President in the Amrit Festival of Independence. In a series of tweets after the announcement of Murmu’s victory, Prime Minister Modi said his tenure as MLA, minister and governor of Jharkhand was “excellent”.
