During Congress-led UPA government, CBI was pressurizing me to implicate PM Narendra Modi: Amit Shah
New Delhi: Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Wednesday said that during the Congress-led United Progressive Alliance government, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) pressurized him to implicate Prime Minister Narendra Modi in an alleged fake encounter case in Gujarat. The Union Home Minister said this in response to a question on the opposition’s allegation in News18’s ‘Rising India’ program that the Narendra Modi government was ‘misusing’ central agencies to target him.
He said that the CBI was pressurizing me to implicate PM Modi, when he was the Chief Minister of Gujarat, in the alleged fake encounter case during the Congress government. Despite this, the BJP never created a ruckus. On Rahul Gandhi being convicted in a defamation case by a Surat court, Home Minister Amit Shah said that the Congress leader is not the only person who has been convicted by the court and has lost his membership of the Lok Sabha. Membership of 19 MPs has gone before him, then democracy was not in danger, only in the case of Rahul Gandhi, democracy was in danger?
The Home Minister cited the names of leaders like Lalu Yadav, J Jayalalithaa as examples. He said that instead of going to the High Court, Rahul is trying to create hue and cry and is blaming Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his fate. Home Minister Amit Shah said that instead of trying to pin the blame on Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Rahul Gandhi should go to a higher court to fight against his own indictment.
