Tricolor Set Ablaze In UP: In Gonda district, the district administration has constituted a two-member team and summoned an inquiry report in the case of a video of the tricolors stuffed in sacks being allegedly set on fire during the cleaning of government offices.
Chief Development Officer Gaurav Kumar said on Monday that during the cleaning of the government offices of Vikas Bhawan located at the district headquarters, information about the burning of the tricolor kept in the sacks by the employees on Sunday was received through social media.
District administration constituted two member team
CDO Gaurav Kumar said that taking cognizance of this incident, he has constituted a two-member team under the chairmanship of Additional District Magistrate Suresh Kumar Soni and summoned an inquiry. He said that on receipt of the inquiry report, legal action would be taken against the guilty employees as per the rules. In this regard, District Development Officer Dinkar Vidyarthi said that flags were called for distribution in the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign in August last.
He said that some flags were not up to the standard, so they were not distributed and kept in a room of Vikas Bhavan itself. As Sunday was a holiday, the offices were being cleaned. The student told that during this time the cleaning staff along with other junk files and papers also burnt the sack in which the tricolors were kept.
Video went viral on social media
Significantly, in a video viral on social media on Monday, the national flag was purportedly seen burning in some sacks behind Vikas Bhavan. In this, someone was heard saying that the flags which came for distribution under the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign on the occasion of Independence Day have been set ablaze.
