The European-Mediterranean Seismological Center said that a magnitude 5.9 earthquake occurred at around 10.19 am 70 km southeast of Faizabad, Afghanistan. Its effect was also felt in Jammu-Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh. The epicenter of the earthquake was 71.17 degrees east and 36.64 degrees north of the Afghanistan-Tajikistan border region at a depth of 220 kilometers from the ground.
