Education Department canceled the school’s recognition for not giving admission to students from EWS quota in Delhi

Delhi Government: On the recommendation of the SC / ST Welfare Committee, the Education Department of Delhi Government has decided not to take admission of students under EWS quota and not free stationery. On providing, the recognition of JD Tytler School located in New Rajendra Nagar has been withdrawn. This order of the department will be considered effective from April 1, 2023. After this the school will not be able to take admission of new children in any class.

The chairman said – schools have to follow the rules

Committee chairman Vishesh Ravi says that the Delhi government under the leadership of Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal is committed to providing world-class education to all children. CM Arvind Kejriwal has given clear instructions that EWS children should be given admission and stationery as per rules. The committee had recommended to the Education Department that strict action should be taken against the schools which do not follow the rules issued by the government. Due to this, the recognition of the school has now been withdrawn.

Right to free and compulsory education

SC / ST Welfare Committee chairman and MLA Vishesh Ravi says that according to the order issued by the Education Department on July 16, 2022, children have the right to free and compulsory education. Violation of the order of the department was found at JD Tytler School in New Rajendra Nagar. It was found that the school has not taken admission of some students under EWS quota and has not even provided stationery to some students.

school action

The action was recommended keeping in mind the interests of the children studying in the school. After which it has been instructed by the Education Department that the school will not admit new students in any class from the academic session 2022-23 and after that. The concerned district DDE will ensure that the students of JD Tytler School can be accommodated in nearby government schools if they so desire. It is also directed that the salary and arrears of the school staff should be paid till the school is in operation.

Show cause notice to private schools

Vishesh Ravi, chairman of the committee on the welfare of Scheduled Castes / Scheduled Tribes, said that earlier, on the recommendation of the committee, the education department had issued show cause notices to private schools refusing to admit students under EWS quota. Even after the notice, some private schools have not taken admission of EWS students and have not even given them stationery. Therefore, the committee had asked the education department to withdraw recognition and register an FIR on receipt of complaints against such private schools.

The school was instructed many times

Committee chairman Vishesh Ravi said that several show cause notices were issued to JD Tytler School. The education department delegation visited the school several times and held several meetings with the school administration to ensure fair treatment to EWS students and parents but the school refused to admit students under EWS quota even after several attempts. done. The school’s response to the show cause notice was not acceptable. This school was also not providing free stationery, books and uniform to the students coming under EWS as per rules.
