Election commission told when elections will be held in Maharashtra and Jharkhand; gave these reasons for the delay

Assembly elections for Haryana and Jammu and Kashmir have been announced. The results of both states will come together on October 4. But the dates for assembly elections in Maharashtra have not been announced. When asked about this, Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar cited several reasons. He said that Maharashtra is a big state. In such a situation, voting will be held in several phases and separate voting will be done due to festivals. Kumar said that there are big festivals like Ganesh Utsav, Pitru Paksha Navratri, Diwali. Therefore, elections in Maharashtra will be held later. He said that we will hold elections in 2-2 states.

Now elections will be held in Haryana and Jammu and Kashmir. After this, a decision will be taken on Maharashtra and Jharkhand. In such a situation, it is believed that elections can be held in Jharkhand along with Maharashtra. The Jharkhand assembly is ending in December, while the last date for the Maharashtra assembly is 26 November. In such a situation, the assembly should be formed in the state before 26th. At the same time, the commission has cited festivals like Diwali as the reason for postponing the election. It is clear that now voting will take place in Maharashtra and Jharkhand only after Diwali. This year Diwali is on 1 November. In such a situation, it is believed that the election can start from the end of the first week of November.

Let us tell you that there are 288 assembly seats in Maharashtra. Traditionally, voting has been held in several phases here. Meanwhile, regarding the elections in Jammu and Kashmir, National Conference leader Omar Abdullah said that we were already prepared for the elections. He said that this time elections are being held in three phases only, which is a new thing. There will be less time for the elections, which will be a new experience for all political parties. It is believed from his statement that he will contest the elections. However, he had earlier said that he would not contest the elections until Jammu and Kashmir gets the status of a state. Similarly, Mehbooba Mufti had announced not to contest the elections.
