The apex court took note of the AAG’s submission that all efforts would be made to have Gujarat-like basic facilities in courts in Uttar Pradesh and initially 10 districts have been identified for the same. The bench was hearing a plea related to infrastructure and other budgetary provisions for the lower judiciary.
Cases can affect the economic development of the state
The apex court had earlier said that it is the duty of the state government to provide adequate infrastructure and make budgetary provision for commercial courts and other court buildings. The apex court had said that execution petitions and litigation arising out of commercial disputes have been pending in Uttar Pradesh for decades and these may ultimately affect the economic development of the state.
