Excise scam- ED’s sensational disclosure, said- money was used in Goa elections, Kejriwal denied
New Delhi: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has claimed in a second chargesheet that Rs 100 crore was allegedly taken in Delhi’s scrapped excise policy. ”Bribe” A part of it was used for the campaign of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) in the 2022 Goa Assembly elections. Delhi’s Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia is also an accused in this case. Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal alleged that the cases filed by the agency ‘bogus’ and their aim is to ‘topple’ or build governments. The federal probe agency, in its charge sheet filed in a special court on January 6, also alleged that Sisodia was among those who were using mobile phones “purchased in the name of another person” to hide their identity.
“There are instances where the accused/suspects have used SIM cards issued in the name of other persons and phones purchased in the name of other persons to give the pretext that either the SIM The card is not in his name or the phones were not bought by him and belong to other persons. A Delhi court on Thursday took cognizance of the prosecution’s complaint and summoned the accused on February 23. The agency also claimed that a close aide of the Chief Minister of Delhi ‘arranged a video call for Sameer (Mahendru) and Arvind Kejriwal through FaceTime (a video calling feature on the iPhone), where Arvind told Sameer That Aly is ‘their boy’ and Sameer should trust him and move forward with him.’

Rejecting the contents of the ED’s chargesheet, the Delhi chief minister said, “It has filed 5,000 chargesheets during the tenure of the present government.” Kejriwal said, ‘How many people have been sentenced? All the cases registered by ED are fake and they are used to topple or build governments. ED does not register cases to eliminate corruption. They do this to buy MLAs, to topple governments. There is a question on the ED chargesheet.
The ED alleged that a close aide of Kejriwal (arrested in the case) received a bribe of Rs 100 crore from a group on behalf of AAP leaders. It said, ‘Investigation so far has revealed that a part of this amount was used in AAP’s election campaign for the Goa Assembly Elections 2022. A cash payment of Rs 70 lakh was made to the volunteers who were part of the survey team. The Excise Policy 2021-22 was scrapped in August last year and the Lieutenant Governor of Delhi later asked the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to probe alleged irregularities in the matter.
Criticizing the AAP government, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) said that the ED’s charge sheet has exposed the real face of Kejriwal and his party. BJP MP Manoj Tiwari alleged, ‘The liquor mafia paid Rs 100 crore as demanded by Kejriwal through the party’s communication in-charge Vijay Nair for the Goa elections. Kejriwal asked the liquor mafia to pay Rs 100 crore to Nair through a Facetime video. Citing the ED chargesheet, he said this is the real face of Kejriwal and his Aam Aadmi Party (AAP).
