Nikhil Lakhwani / Chandigarh. Delhi’s air quality deteriorated to a great extent on Tuesday morning. The capital air quality was recorded up to 551 PM in the Air Quality Index in the state. Punjab Agriculture Minister Kuldeep Dhaliwal said in a special interview with CNN-News18 that Punjab cannot be blamed for Delhi’s pollution. During this, he said that the reason for the pollution spreading in Delhi cannot be the stubble burning in Punjab. Apart from this, he said that Rohtak, Panipat and Sonipat of Haryana are contributing to the pollution of Delhi. The minister asked the question that how can the pollution of Punjab reach Delhi?

Further, when asked what could be the solution to stubble burning, he replied, “As far as paddy is concerned, we hardly use it. We consume it during weddings or events. We grow it in the rest of the country. Our water level has come down because of paddy. The best solution is to reduce paddy cultivation and encourage farmers to grow other crops.

On the other hand, when Punjab Minister Dhaliwal was asked why the machines provided by the Center for stubble management are lying idle, he said, “We had started the registration. 30 thousand were sent out. But due to the social structure in the villages, it is not being used properly. The demand for machines is high and the supply is less. We need two lakh machines, but we have only 1.20 lakh.

Dhaliwal blamed the Center for the problem of stubble. He said, “I want to ask Union Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar to visit Punjab along with Haryana Agriculture Minister. We will show them the reality. Tomar has not given the machines from his pocket. It is out of the GST share of the state. Center is responsible for this mess.
