There has been a major reshuffle in Pakistan. Pakistan has appointed Lieutenant General Muhammad Asim Malik as the new Director General of ISI. He will take over as ISI Chief from September 30. Asim Malik will replace Lieutenant Nadeem Anjum, who was appointed during the tenure of former PM Imran Khan. Asim Malik has been appointed at a time when Pakistan is facing internal challenges. After the Pakistan Army Chief, the ISI Chief is the second most powerful person in the country.
It is being said about Asim Malik that he has good experience of working in Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. He has been the head of the Infantry Division in Balochistan. Apart from this, he has also worked in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Pakistani Army sources say that he has been given the command because terrorist attacks are continuing in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan. Recently, the Balochistan Liberation Army had carried out target killing of 50 people, who were residents of Punjab province. After many years, the situation in Balochistan has become so bad that incidents of selective killing of people of Punjab are coming to the fore.
In such a situation, Asim Malik has been made the ISI chief. Currently, Asim was posted at the Pakistan Army headquarters in Rawalpindi and was handling the administrative work of the army. Malik has graduated from America and has also studied from the Royal College of Defense Studies in London. Asim Malik is also considered to be a good expert on security and foreign affairs. Sources in the Pak government say that Asim Malik is also close to PM Shahbaz Sharif and has good relations with him. In this way, he has been appointed while maintaining a balance and strategic matters have also been taken care of.
