An encounter is going on between security forces and terrorists in the forests of a remote village in Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir. Officials informed on Sunday that based on secret information, this joint operation was started with the local police in Pathantir area of Mendhar on Saturday evening. Army soldiers have surrounded three terrorists. It is being told that one of them is also a top commander. Firing is going on from both sides.
A security department official said that based on confidential information, the police and the army had launched a joint search operation in the Pathantir area near Gursai Top in Mendhar subdivision on Saturday evening. Two to three terrorists are reported to be hiding in the area.
He said that when the joint team was searching for the terrorists, the terrorists started firing on the security forces, after which an encounter started between the two. The officer said that intermittent firing is going on from both sides, additional forces have been sent to the area.
Terrorists’ top commander trapped
Sources say that one of the terrorists is their top commander, who has been trapped. This encounter took place a day after three terrorists were killed in an overnight encounter with security forces in Baramulla district of Jammu and Kashmir. The operation against the terrorists was launched on Friday night. The army and police had received information about the presence of terrorists in a village a few kilometers away from the national highway.
