Former Jharkhand CM Hemant Soren’s remand completed, sent to jail – India TV Hindi

Ranchi: Former Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren was sent to Birsa Munda Central Jail, Hotwar, Ranchi in judicial custody on Thursday after completion of ED remand period. Earlier, he was produced before the PMLA court at around 2 pm. The PMLA court had already extended his judicial custody till February 22. ED interrogated Soren for thirteen consecutive days.

ED had arrested on 31 January

After being arrested on the night of 31 January, the ED took him on remand and started questioning him from 3 February. His remand period was extended twice on court orders.

Accusation of not cooperating in investigation

It is noteworthy that ED had arrested Hemant Soren after eight hours of interrogation on January 31 in the scam of about eight and a half acres of land in Bariatu, Ranchi. He has been questioned about the ownership of this land, recovery of a BMW car from his Delhi residence, WhatsApp chats of close associate Vinod Singh. However, ED has accused Hemant Soren of not cooperating in the investigation. In response to questions regarding ownership of the land, he denied that the land was in his possession.

During the appearance in PMLA court, ED told the court that during interrogation, evidence of 8.46 acres of land found from the mobile phone of Revenue Sub Inspector of Badgai Zone Bhanu Pratap Prasad was placed before Hemant Soren. (IANS)
