Free ration extension will ensure support to crores of people: PM Modi – Fast Hindi News

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday said the cabinet’s decision to extend the free ration scheme for another three months will ensure the support of crores of people during the festive season.

“Today’s cabinet decision to extend Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana will benefit crores of people across India and ensure support during this festive season,” PM Modi said in a tweet.

Referring to the cabinet’s decision on redevelopment of New Delhi, Ahmedabad and Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus railway stations, he said India’s infrastructure should be futuristic and the decision reflects the government’s vision.

“India’s infrastructure has to be futuristic. Today’s decision of the cabinet on the redevelopment of New Delhi, Ahmedabad and Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus reflects this view of the government. These stations will be modernized and ‘Ease of Living’ will be taken forward.

Government expands free ration scheme

The government on Wednesday approved the extension for the Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana (PMGKAY-Phase VII) for an additional period of 3 months from October to December 2022.

The main objective behind this move is to insure food security at a time when the entire world is bearing the brunt of COVID-19. “India has been successfully maintaining food security for its vulnerable sections by taking necessary steps to maintain availability and affordability for the common man,” the government said in a press note.

With the extension of PMGKAY by three months, people will continue to get the benefit of easy availability of food grains without any financial crunch, the statement said.

Under this scheme, 5 kg of food grains per month is provided free of cost to all the beneficiaries covered under the National Food Security Act (NFSA). [Antodaya Anna Yojana & Priority Households] These include those covered under Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT).

Cabinet approves redevelopment of 3 railway stations

The Union Cabinet on Wednesday approved the proposal for redevelopment of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus railway stations in New Delhi, Ahmedabad and Mumbai with a total investment of around Rs 10,000 crore.

Giving details about the integration and redesign of the station, Vaishnav said: New Delhi Railway Station will integrate train services with buses, auto and metro rail services. The redesign of Ahmedabad Railway Station is inspired by the Sun Temple of Modera. The heritage building of CSMT will not be touched, but the adjoining buildings will be redeveloped.

The Railway Minister said that the design would include a spacious rooftop plaza with all passenger amenities in one place along with spaces for retail, cafeteria and recreational facilities.
